Healthy Families Partnership

In the final year of its 5 year programme of Lottery-funding I took on the interim management of the 7 partner Healthy Families Partnership in Camden. Between Oct 2006 and Feb 2008, working approximately 2 days per week, the following outcomes were secured for this multi-location Healthy Living Centre:

1. Partnership Strategic Review – reviewed the partnership vision, membership, priorities, goals, opportunities. Entailed meeting with partners and wider stakeholders plus working with the partnership as a whole on strategic planning

2. Fundraising – In consultation with partners submitting funding bids, securing continuation funding from PCT, local authority and trust sources

3. Liaison with Local Authority, PCT and Local Strategic Partnership senior members and structures e.g. launched the 5 HLC Healthy Living Camden Network via a conference to which all key stakeholders and decision makers invited, some to speak. Presented to the LA’s Healthy Scrutiny Committee

4. Ensured effective co-ordination of the Healthy Living Centre programme – including financial management and events management e.g. multi-partner International Women’s Day event. Overall beneficiaries during the period exceeded targets: 4256 plus 5500 festival attendees and newsletter recipients

5. Liaison with the Big Lottery Fund – e.g. on budgets, reports of outputs and milestones, securing agreement on reconfiguration of spend, final monitoring report

6. Line management supervision of the part-time administrative assistant including supporting her production of newsletter and other publicity materials

7. Strengthened indicators of health outcomes e.g. through desk research and liaison with partners to ‘harden’ outcome and output measures for use in funding bids

8. Ensured partners was kept abreast of local and national policy developments in relation to Health Improvement programmes, and of the potential impact & opportunities that these developments present for the Healthy Living Centre post Big Lottery Funding

Impact: Awareness was raised locally through strategic relationships developed and forged of the contribution of the Healthy Families Partnership to positive local health outcomes. Prioritised activities were sustained through ensuring partner engagement and wider stakeholder recognition.
